The problems of the world cannot possibly be solved by cynics whose horizons are limited by the obvious realities. We need people who can dream of things that never were. - John F. Kennedy

You’re a human being, you live once, and life is wonderful, so eat the damn red velvet cupcake.

Emma Stone

Leave out all the peripheral talk about operating costs, noise and comfort, forget about it for a second. Then you discover that, at it’s heart, the Concorde embodied the portion of the human soul that stands defiant against nature and triumphs in spirit and will.

Upon arriving in space, the Webb will attempt an unprecedented feat of reverse origami: It will emerge bundled from the tip of an Ariane rocket and slowly unfurl its shade, mirrors, and instruments, becoming in the process the world’s largest space observatory, its seeing power 100 times that of the Hubble. The stakes for this metamorphosis are high, for even with tomorrow’s technology, repair at such a remove from Earth will be impossible. If for any reason the Webb should fail after launch, it will be left to idle in space, out of reach, a stillborn in the void.
